I was recently appointed the editor of the International Clarinet Association’s e-newsletter. I’m looking forward to adding a new perspective and creating content that resonates with the organization and its members.
What kinds of things can members expect? More exclusive content. More updates on events and position openings. More of the information that is important when it’s relevant. The next newsletter will be going out very soon.
In the meantime, have you registered for ClarinetFest 2016 in Lawrence, Kansas? I’ll be attending and I look forward to seeing many people there as well.
The theme for this year’s festival is Inspiration; something all of us are familiar with. The theme will place a spotlight on five clarinetists that are responsible for the creation of significant works in our repertoire. Anton Stadler, Heinrich Baermann, Johann Hermstedt, Richard Mūhlfeld, and Benny Goodman. These clarinetists gave us great masterworks such as the Mozart Concerto, the Brahms Sonatas, the Weber Concerti, and the Copland Concerto.
These works will be on full display as some of our field’s brightest masters perform them for ClarinetFest attendees. You shouldn’t miss it.
Information about the festival can be found on the website at the following address:
